Christian Marriages at St Thomas’

St Thomas’ church has been a place in which marriages have been solemnized for almost 200 years. The older the church building gets the more attractive it becomes for marriages. Couples come from all over the country to be married in St Thomas’. In many cases, although the couple now lives elsewhere, there is a family or historical connection with St Thomas’ that makes it the place to be married.

If you are looking at getting married at St Thomas’ let us first say congratulations on your weeding plans!

The ministry team at St Thomas’ doesn’t just do weddings, we perform Christian marriages – and there is a huge difference between the two. We take marriage seriously enough to insist that couples wanting to be married at St Thomas’ do a marriage preparation course. There are other legal and church obligations as well. The legal notice of intention must be signed no latter than one month and one day before the marriage but no earlier than six months prior. Birth certificates need to be sighted at this signing.

The first thing you will need to do is come along to one of our church services and introduce yourselves to the minister. Everything else will flow from this initial meeting. We will make a tentative booking for the church and send you a letter detailing the rest of the process.

If you live out of town we will still ask you to go to meet your local minister at one of their church services. Contact our parish office to place a tentative booking on the church and we will send you a letter detailing the rest of the process.

Thank you for your interest and may God bless you as you prepare for your life together.   Learn more? Click here.
